What we need
Symbotic is seeking a Manager, Installation Standards, (Mechanical or Electrical), who will be responsible for overseeing the development, organization, and management of all mechanical or electrical installation documentation, processes, and standards within the organization. This role will interface with engineering, manufacturing, and site installation teams to ensure that systems and processes are designed, built, and installed consistently to meet quality and safety standards. The Manager, Installation Standards will have primary ownership of the SOP process for all mechanical/or electrical installation functions in both structure and automated systems, with the goal of achieving efficient and timely installations.
What we do
We are looking for a Manager, Installation Standards to join our Site Installation team within our Implementation organization. The Site Installation team oversees the installation of Symbotic automation systems on customer sites. They are responsible for ensuring the systems are installed as designed and at a high quality on schedule and under budget. This group will partner very closely with the Symbotic PM and commissioning team.
What you’ll do
Standard Operating Procedure Development – This role will work closely with both internal (Sym Engineering and Manufacturing) and external stakeholders (installation partners and third-party fabricators) across multiple functions to ensure the development of construction SOPs across all customer installation sites.
Standard Operating Procedure Deployment – This role will be required to train new internal and external process users to ensure that program standards are understood and executed in the field.
Support Installation Kickoff Meetings - This role will support project kickoffs with site teams and subcontractors to ensure the various detailed requirements of the project are understood and followed throughout the duration of installation.
Documentation Management – This role will work closely with the Engineering and Manufacturing teams to ensure that program level documentation is updated with regular feedback from the field for functionality and constructability considerations (redlines).
Request for Information Support – This role will work closely with active field and engineering teams to ensure site RFIs are logged, reported, escalated, and closed in a timely manner.
Engineering Bulletin Development – This role will work closely with the Engineering team to ensure that RFIs and Redlines are converted to Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) that result in updated standards in the form of bulletins and updated revisions.
Revision Control – This role will have primary responsibility of site revision control, ensuring that individual installation sites and supply chain have the most up to date document revisions from project scope development through the end of site installation.
What you’ll need
Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline or other relevant field required
Minimum 5+ years experience in mechanical or electrical installation
Experience supervising or managing teams, specifically contractors
Experience with industrial/robotic automation projects and ASRS projects.
Working knowledge of OSHA compliance and experience with common construction safety practices, including lifting and rigging.
Good negotiation and relationship skills, both in directing the technical team and ability to manage and reach solutions to competing priorities.
Experience with using metrics and data analysis to drive process improvements.
Ability to provide critical technical thinking at the team level to trigger appropriate discussions around requirements, design, and process challenges the team may face.
Ability to foster a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement across all functional groups to deliver customer systems, on time and that meet our performance and quality standards.
Our Environment
Hybrid, travel-based position. Access to major airport required.
Travel is required up to 80% of the time.
Employee must have a valid driver’s license and the ability to drive and/or fly to client and other customer locations. Our main office is in Wilmington, MA. The person taking this position will be required to perform work at our customer installation locations for extended periods of time where equipment is installed and ready for commissioning.
The employee is responsible to own a credit card and manage expenses personally to be reimbursed on a bi-weekly basis.
The employee is frequently required to walk and reach with hands and arms.
The employee may be required to work at heights of 45 feet or greater, work in confined spaces, stand for long periods, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Must comply with all safety requirements and protocols, including without limitation Lockout tagout safety protocols and fall protection safety protocols.
Approximately 80% of time will be spent on a construction site with PPE required (hard hat, safety vest, steel toes, safety glasses, ear protection, fall protection safety harness).
There will be steep stairs to climb into the structure. You may be required to routinely walk up and down stairs to navigate the AS/RS structure.
You will regularly be near railings that are high off the ground.
Subject to environmental conditions, protection from weather conditions but not necessarily temperature changes. Must be capable of working in temperatures ranging from 105° to 32° Fahrenheit.
