Senior Frontend Engineer (Angular, React)

What we need 

We are looking for a Senior Frontend Engineer to join our Software Engineering team. You will play a hands-on role engineering core software that orchestrates inventory into the Symbotic system and supports order fulfillment for customers. You will collaborate with engineers and product managers to design, build, and ship production-quality features across web, mobile, desktop, and backend services in an agile environment. 

What we do 

Our Software Engineering team builds the real-time applications and services that power inventory induction and order fulfillment within Symbotic's warehouse automation platform. We work across user interfaces, distributed services, messaging, and data systems to deliver reliable and intuitive software for complex operational environments. 

What you’ll do 

• Design and develop real-time distributed software that orchestrates the induction of new inventory and fulfillment of customer orders. 

• Develop and enhance applications across web, desktop, and mobile technology stacks using Angular v15+ or React, C# .NET, XAML, RabbitMQ, and SQL. 

• Build responsive, accessible, and reusable UI components and modules using HTML, CSS/SCSS, and TypeScript. 

• Integrate frontend applications with backend services by consuming REST APIs, exchanging messages through RabbitMQ, and using SignalR for real-time updates. 

• Write maintainable, production-quality code with unit tests and contribute to component and end-to-end test coverage. 

• Optimize frontend performance, accessibility, and the overall quality of the user experience. 

• Participate in the design, development, code review, and testing of new functionality as a hands-on member of the engineering team. 

• Collaborate with development teams and product managers to refine requirements, define API contracts, and deliver new business capabilities. 

• Communicate effectively with engineers, UX/UI, DevOps, and management through clear technical designs, status updates, and documentation. 

• Implement and maintain internationalization and localization across the product. 

• Maintain regular collaboration overlap during 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time. 

What you’ll need 

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience. 

• 4 to 8 years of professional experience developing software applications. 

• 3+ years of experience with HTML, CSS/SCSS, TypeScript, and a modern component framework, preferably Angular v15+ or React. 

• Experience building responsive, reusable frontend components and integrating user interfaces with backend services. 

• Working knowledge of REST APIs, real-time communication patterns, automated testing, and modern software engineering practices. 

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to collaborate with engineers, UX/UI, DevOps, product managers, and management. 

• Ability to work effectively in an agile, cross-functional, and internationally distributed engineering environment. 

Our Environment  

• Up to 10% of travel may be required. Employees must have a valid driver’s license and the ability to drive and/or fly to client and other customer locations. 

• Employees may be required to use a personal credit card for business travel expenses, which are reimbursed based on the program guidelines. Eligible employees may receive a corporate credit card based on role and travel requirements, but a personal credit card may be needed during onboarding until the corporate card is issued.
