What we need
As the Employment & Compliance Counsel, you will serve as a strategic and trusted legal partner, providing expert legal guidance on employment, human resources, and Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) matters. You will play a crucial role in supporting workplace health and safety compliance, mitigating legal risks, and developing and implementing company policies. This is a hands-on role where you will advise leadership and HR partners on complex legal issues to ensure the company's practices are compliant and consistent with business goals. Position reports to SVP and General Counsel.

The Legal Team is responsible for ensuring the company operates within the bounds of the law, managing risk, and protecting the company's interests.
What you’ll do
Provide day-to-day legal counsel to HR, business leaders, and other stakeholders on employment matters, including hiring, employee benefits, performance management, ADA compliance, federal and state leave laws, anti-discrimination and harassment matters, employee relations, mobility, internal investigations, terminations, independent contractor classification, and wage and hour issues.
Advise on employment law and OHS compliance, including evolving regulatory requirements.
Draft, review, and update employment-related agreements, policies, handbooks, and procedures.
Lead or support internal investigations into employee complaints, allegations of misconduct, or other sensitive workplace issues.
Manage and respond to employment-related claims, litigation, administrative agency charges, and pre-litigation disputes.
Partner with external counsel as needed on complex employment law matters.
Monitor legal and regulatory developments affecting the company’s workforce and advise on potential business impacts.
Contribute to global employment legal strategy and cross-functional initiatives.
Support other compliance and regulatory matters as assigned.
What you’ll need
Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited U.S. law school and licensed to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
Minimum 5 years’ experience at a top-tier law firm in a labor/employment practice group (additional in-house counsel experience a plus).
Demonstrated expertise in U.S. employment law; experience with Canadian and/or Latin American employment law strongly preferred.
Experience advising HR and business leaders in a fast-paced, matrixed environment.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to present complex legal issues in a clear and practical manner.
Proactive, collaborative, and able to independently manage a diverse range of matters.
Business-oriented mindset with sound judgment and a risk mitigation focus.
Hybrid schedule (minimum 3 days per week in office) based in Wilmington, MA office.
Our Environment
Up to 10% travel may be required. Employees must have a valid driver’s license and the ability to drive and/or fly to client and other customer locations.
The employee is responsible for possessing a credit card and managing expenses personally to be reimbursed on a bi-weekly basis.
