Our Story
How it Started
In the early 2000s, Rick Cohen, owner of one of the world’s largest wholesale grocery distributors, needed to automate his warehouses to support rapid growth and evolving customer demand. He quickly realized that no single end-to-end solution existed that would provide the efficiency gains, accuracy, and speed that was required, along with the adaptability and durability that would grow with the company.
Rick invested in a small company that would later become Symbotic, developing a vision and supporting concepts to reinvent the warehouse and reimagine the supply chain through robotic technologies and intelligent systems.
Today, with a focus on continuous innovation built on understanding – then solving – the real challenges being faced by its customers, Symbotic’s AI-powered solutions are leading the way in transforming the global supply chain.

We see the Symbotic System in the same way: combined technologies perfectly orchestrated to create a solution superior and far more effective than individual technologies simply working in close proximity.
