System Engineer

What we need

Symbotic is seeking for a System Engineer to join our Operations team within our Site Operations organization. Your job will be to support the reliability, availability, performance, and overall health of automated warehouse systems in a live production environment.

What we do

The Site Operations team is responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of Symbotic's automated warehouse systems. Working alongside maintenance, operations, and technical teams, the organization supports system uptime, equipment reliability, issue resolution, and ongoing operational excellence for customer sites. The team serves as the front line of technical execution, helping customers maximize the performance of highly automated systems that include robotics, conveyors, lifts, sensors, motors, and control systems.

What you'll do

• Monitor and maintain the health and performance of automated warehouse systems, including conveyors, lifts, robotic vehicles, motors, sensors, and PLC-controlled equipment.
• Perform advanced electrical, mechanical, and automation troubleshooting to resolve equipment and production-impacting issues.
• Diagnose failures involving PLCs, VFDs, AC/DC motors, servo motors, sensors, and control hardware.
• Execute preventive and corrective maintenance activities to improve system reliability and uptime.
• Utilize system alarms, logs, dashboards, and data analysis tools to identify root causes and recurring issues.
• Serve as a technical escalation point during system disruptions and collaborate with maintenance and operations teams to restore performance.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, LOTO, electrical safety, and Symbotic safety standards while supporting critical on-site operational needs.

What you'll need

• Minimum of 1 year of related experience or equivalent work experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent hands-on experience.
• Hands-on experience troubleshooting PLC-controlled equipment, preferably Allen-Bradley platforms.
• Experience diagnosing and supporting VFDs, AC/DC motors, servo motors, sensors, and automated material handling equipment.
• Working knowledge of SQL, Python, and Linux for diagnostics, log review, and system interaction.
• Experience maintaining automated systems such as conveyors, vertical lifts, AS/RS equipment, robotics, or other electro-mechanical systems.
• Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, documentation, and communication skills within an industrial production environment.

The base range for this position in the posted location is $71,000.00 - $97,900.00 however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The compensation package includes medical, dental, vision, disability, 401K, PTO and/or other benefits.
